Its no secret to anyone that knows me knows my all time favorite television show is Dynasty. (Don’t worry – Wonder Woman is a very, very close second). I can’t tell you what drew me to it when it was on but to this day I still love it. Its being S-L-O-W-L-Y released on DVD but I still have some of my old VHS tapes from when it was originally broadcast (though to be honest I don’t know if we have a VCR or not) and of course youtube is fantastic for having lots of episodes online. Theres is just something so fun about all the campiness of it. I mean, seriously, how many times can two woman beat the crap out of each? But that doesn’t matter – its the fun and excitement of it all; whether its in a lily pond, a studio (complete with feather pillows), or a a mud hole.

Anyway I because extremely excited the other day when I was visiting a website and discovered that someone is producing some collectible items based on Dynasty. I don’t know when they are coming out but I just may have to break down and purchase these.

Though there is one question . . . where’s Blake?

As a child of the 70′s and 80′s Saturday morning cartoons were a staple of my childhood and no show was more popular for me than The Super Friends. Probably what made it even more popular for me was the fact that Wonder Woman was included. Now I had two places to see my favorite super hero – Lynda Carter’s fantastic TV show and now in cartoon form. Yes, it was true you had to suspend reality many, many, many times throughout its run (I mean, seriously, the Super Friends are running around in space with nothing but a clear fish-bowl around their head?? Hello?? Space-suits or even oxygen tanks – who needs those???), but that didn’t matter. It was pure fun and delight just to watch. Now thats not to say that some things didn’t bother me about the show, because sadly there were a few . . . namely – Superman is the most wonderful and fantastic and everything revolves around him and without him no one can do anything . . .blah blah blah blah blah. Sadly, I really could go on and on on that subject alone, but thats for another time. I didn’t like that Wonder Woman rarely ever go to show her true powers. Even back then her strength was supposed to be nearly equal to that of Superman’s. Instead all she seemed to do was fly her invisible jet (usually having to take Aquaman (loser!!) somewhere), using the magic lasso to tie things up, or saying “Great Hera!” everytime something happened. I know, I know . . . it was the 70′s and I should be happy they just included her and of course I am. Without the Super Friends we might never have had the phenomenal Justice League show were Wonder Woman was truly given a role of strength and power.

Yes, believe it or not Wonder Woman and the Brady Bunch have a connection. It all took place back in 1972 when Greg, Marcia, Peter, Jan, Bobby, & Cindy had their own cartoon show. (Yes, the Brady Kids had their own cartoon show – I mean they had their own variety show, why not a cartoon too, right?). Anyway it was Wonder Woman’s first cartoon appearance before joining the Super Friends. Enjoy The Brady Kids episode titled “Its All Greek To Me”.

Back in 1974 Wonder Woman made her first “movie/tv” appearance in an hour movie starring Cathy Lee Crosby. This version seemed to have no real powers, everyone seemed to know that Diana was “the Wonder Woman”, she was blonde, and she did not wear the infamous costume everyone associates with Wonder Woman.

Back in the 60′s when the Batman TV show was enjoying its fantastic and campy success – the same writers attempted to write a Wonder Woman pilot. This is the five minute clip of that pilot. I can’t imagine how they would have sustained such an awful, awful show. Thank goodness it was never picked up.

Kindle App

Just finished reading my third book using the Kindle App for the iPod Touch. Was a tad reluctant at first to use it because I wondered if the screen would be too small or the print too fuzzy. I was pleasantly surprised how much I actually enjoyed it using it. The screen size didn’t bother me at all and the print clear and easy to read. I also like how flicking my finger on the screen to advance the screens is almost like turning a page.

So if I was so reluctant, why did I download it? It was actually because I was interested in reading a series of books based on the show Being Human. Amazon had all the books listed for purchase . . . however they were listed as shipping in 6-8 weeks but available for immediate purchase as Kindle items. So I bit the bullet – downloaded the app and purchased the first book.

The series was very enjoyable and I truly felt like they grasped the characters from the show. The third book was a little slow – but overall an enjoyed read. So thumbs up to the books and of course the Kindle App – I will definitely be using it again!!
